A new report by Intero Digital explores how small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are approaching digital marketing in 2024. The report reveals key trends, strategies, and challenges in the realm of digital marketing for the year. It includes information about digital marketing spending trends, content marketing trends, emerging trends in Amazon marketing and paid advertising, and changes in SEO and influencer marketing.
A key finding is that the top priority for digital marketers in 2024 is revenue growth, with 79% of respondents prioritizing this goal. However, growth in revenue is only part of the picture, as 46.2% of marketers are planning to increase their spending, while 53.8% aim to maintain their current spending levels.
The report also outlines several primary struggles for digital marketers this year. They include lead generation, budget constraints, increased competition, and ever-changing algorithms and SEO best practices. To combat these issues, a well-executed digital marketing strategy across various channels is crucial.
Regarding overall marketing goals for the year, revenue growth topped the list at 79.5%. Increasing web traffic and SERPs positioning came in second at 38.5%, while improving lead generation was the fifth biggest goal at 30.8%.
Content marketing insights reveal that the most-shared content had an average word count of 552, considerably down from 792 words the previous year. This suggests that clear and concise messaging is more valuable than wordy content. As marketers strive to produce more diversified content, 41% of them are utilizing video content and podcasts, and 47% are focusing on newsletters.
The report is based on responses from 50 clients, providing insights into digital marketing tactics and strategy for 2024. As digital landscape is rapidly changing, it offers growth opportunities for early adopters across various channels.
