San Francisco-based startup Jasper has acquired Stability AI’s image creation and editing platform, Clipdrop, in a move to enhance its generative AI-driven marketing copilot. Although the transaction’s terms remain undisclosed, Jasper claims this acquisition will fortify its creative companion’s multimodal capabilities, allowing teams to accelerate their advertising strategies and develop brand-aligned creatives.
Jasper’s CEO, Timothy Young, expressed his optimism about the acquisition, stating, “The addition of Clipdrop to Jasper will advance our vision to be the most comprehensive end-to-end marketing copilot in the industry.”
The purchase of Clipdrop, a Paris-based company established in 2020, enhances Jasper’s AI copilot that already supports art generation. The copilot allows users to describe their creative ideas and receive visual representations of these concepts. However, in complex visual campaigns, image generation alone may be insufficient. Clipdrop brings an essential value to the table here.
Clipdrop offers both individual users and businesses a platform to create and edit new images, with feature changes such as in-painting, background removal/replacement, object removal, image upscaling, relighting, and face swapping. The unique platform drives the entire user experience through Stability AI’s models, including Stable Diffusion XL and SDXL Turbo.
Notably, Clipdrop’s entire team will join Jasper and continue to work on enhancing the company’s multimodal capabilities while remaining based in Paris. Damien Henry, one of the co-founders of Clipdrop, is set to assume a broader leadership role in research and innovation for the entire Jasper product.
Furthermore, Clipdrop will maintain its subscription as a standalone product via its own website, and Stability AI has announced its continued support for Clipdrop with its models.
According to Future Market Insights, the global market for AI-powered tools like Clipdrop, which aids designers in creating digital content, is predicted to increase from $4.3 billion in 2023 to $24.7 billion by 2033, with a CAGR of 17.3 percent during the forecast period.
